PDP Protests as Kaduna Electoral Commission Announces APC Victory in 23 Local Governments

She announced, “Under the authority given to the Commission, I confirm the results as submitted by the returning officers. APC has won all 23 local government chairmanship positions and 255 councillorship seats statewide.”

Hajiya Mohammed further listed the local governments where the APC claimed victory, including Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Ikara, Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South.Other local governments won by the APC include Kagarko, Kajuru, Kaura, Kauru, Kubau, Kudan, Lere, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Sanga, Soba, Zango-Kataf, and Zaria.The chairman praised the peaceful conduct of the elections, crediting the voters and citizens of Kaduna State. She noted, “The orderly election process reflects that democracy is thriving in the state, and we aim to continue building on this success for the consolidation of democracy.”

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejected the outcome of the elections, claiming the exercise was never conducted. The PDP spokesperson, Maria Dogo, expressed frustration, stating, “No proper election took place. Election materials were distributed without notifying party agents, and there were no result sheets among the materials.

We want the public to know that no local government election took place in Kaduna.”Eight political parties participated in the elections, including ADC, AAC, APGA, LP, NNPP, PDP, PRP, and YPP. Reports have already been submitted by the Electoral and Returning Officers.
