PDP Slams Tony Okocha’s Call for Fubara’s Resignation, Dismisses It as Irrelevant

Okocha had given Fubara a 48-hour ultimatum, accusing him of mismanaging the state and causing chaos. He also cited a Supreme Court ruling, claiming there was no functional government in Rivers due to several alleged infractions by the governor, which he argued were grounds for impeachment.

In response, Sydney Tambari Gbara, the PDP’s Publicity Secretary in Rivers, dismissed Okocha’s demands as baseless and lacking merit. Gbara criticized Okocha for making unfounded statements, arguing that his comments did not reflect the current political realities in the state. According to Gbara, Okocha’s call for Fubara’s resignation was a reflection of his inconsistency and erratic behavior in Rivers politics, which had led to his diminishing relevance.

“Tony Okocha has a long history of contradictory statements. He has not provided coherent or relevant political leadership, and the people of Rivers no longer take him seriously,” Gbara said. He further suggested that Okocha’s demands were driven by a desire to please political benefactors rather than genuine concerns for the welfare of Rivers State.

Gbara advised the people of Rivers to ignore Okocha’s ultimatum, stressing that it lacked substantial backing. He pointed out that Okocha’s actions appeared to be a politically motivated attempt to destabilize the state’s governance rather than offering constructive solutions to the state’s challenges.

The PDP spokesperson also emphasized that Governor Fubara was focused on improving the state, noting that the governor was actively commissioning projects and making progress in governance. “Fubara is on top of the situation in Rivers State. He is busy commissioning projects. He has no time to listen to characters like Tony Okocha,” Gbara stated.

The PDP reiterated that the governor’s leadership was advancing the state, and they urged Rivers citizens to continue supporting Fubara’s administration. They also condemned Okocha’s attempt to create unnecessary political turmoil, describing it as futile and harmful to the state’s political stability.
