Speaking on the nation’s pressing issues, Obi emphasized the need for bold and decisive action. “I would like to suggest some actions I would have personally approached differently,” he stated. “It is time to confront our national problems boldly and decisively with a sense of urgency.”
The former Anambra State governor proposed three main areas of focus. First, he called for an immediate “visible and verifiable reduction in the cost of governance” to redirect resources toward essential sectors including security, healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation.
On corruption, Obi advocated for a more aggressive stance. He insisted on “proper investigations and recoveries related to missing funds or their sources,” while emphasizing the importance of preventing future misconduct through enhanced transparency in government operations.
Regarding Nigeria’s debt profile, Obi stressed the importance of purposeful borrowing. “All borrowings are tied to regenerative investments and visible productive assets that will benefit the nation,” he stated, warning against the current practice of “accumulating massive debt with no tangible returns, which places undue strain on future development revenues.”
