Rivers Political Storm: Is Primate Ayodele’s Prophecy on Fubara Coming To Pass?

Fubara managed to secure the loyalty of a faction of lawmakers, giving him an edge in the Assembly. Additionally, he conducted local government elections, effectively displacing council chairmen loyal to Wike. His political maneuvering was widely praised by analysts, but amidst the celebrations, Primate Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church repeatedly warned him to remain vigilant, predicting that Wike would not relent in his efforts to unseat him.
In various videos and interviews, Primate Ayodele cautioned Fubara, stating that his battle was far from over:
“The Rivers State governor should be ready for a serious battle. His predecessor will not forgive him and will use his party against him. He has just started his problems and will face a lot more. There is nothing the governor will do that will be appreciated.”
The cleric also foresaw a possible impeachment attempt or the emergence of two rival governors in Rivers State:
“Wike wants to bring Fubara down completely. My fear is that they will impeach Fubara unless he fights back with full force. If not, they will remove him, or two governors will emerge in Rivers State. The crisis will not end soon. They will hold congresses and elections, but Fubara will struggle to secure loyalty.”
On March 1, 2025, Fubara’s run of victories suffered a major setback when the Supreme Court delivered landmark rulings that:
- Restored the House of Assembly leadership loyal to Wike, reversing the changes made by Fubara.
- Declared the local government election null and void, effectively reinstating the Wike-backed council chairmen.
This ruling shifts power back to Wike’s camp and weakens Fubara’s control over key state institutions. The reinstated lawmakers could now move against him, potentially validating Primate Ayodele’s prophecy of an impeachment attempt or a parallel government in Rivers State.
With the political landscape shifting once again, will Fubara be able to hold his ground, or will Ayodele’s prophecy of his removal unfold? Time will tell. Fingers crossed.
