Rivers Students Issue 7-Day Ultimatum to End State of Emergency or Shut Down Schools

In a viral video circulating on social media, student leaders voiced their frustration over the prolonged disruption of academic activities, blaming the emergency declaration for stalling progress rather than improving the education sector.

According to ARSS, efforts to engage with the authorities have yielded no results, leaving them with no choice but to take drastic action.

A representative of the student body stated: “We have exhausted all peaceful avenues of communication with the relevant authorities, but we have yet to receive any meaningful response.”

The students warned that if their demands are not met within seven days, they will mobilize students from all tertiary institutions in Rivers State to enforce a complete shutdown of academic activities.

Emphasizing that their protest is not politically motivated, ARSS insisted that their only concern is safeguarding the educational rights of students. They called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to intervene and resolve the crisis for the sake of students’ futures.
