Shehu Sani Criticizes ‘Sit-At-Home’ Orders, Calls Them Acts of Tyranny and Terror

“Sit at home protest is a peaceful and legitimate form of civil disobedience or resistance. People have the right to voluntarily sit at home in order to advance their cause or to register their objections. However, when people have to be forced to sit at home by the use of force, violence or threats, that is simply another form of tyranny or terror. If a cause is popular and accepted by the masses, they will sit at home without being harassed or threatened to do so,” Shehu Sani wrote.

Sani stated that civil disobedience should be voluntary, with people choosing to stay home to support a cause or express their grievances.

According to him, if a cause is genuinely popular, people will willingly participate without coercion or intimidation.

However, the protests have often been marred by reports of violence and attacks on residents who refuse to comply.

Some businesses and schools in the region have also faced disruptions due to the protests.

Sani’s statement highlights the fine line between peaceful protest and coercion.
