In its judgment delivered on Wednesday, the court dismissed claims by Edozie Njoku, imposing a ₦20 million fine on him for filing what it deemed a frivolous lawsuit at the FCT High Court in Bwari. This ruling follows a Federal High Court decision in Abuja that had earlier barred Njoku from presenting himself as APGA’s chairman, citing the absence of any valid court order recognizing his leadership.
The leadership tussle has been a persistent issue for APGA, with Njoku’s faction temporarily listed on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) website as the party’s leaders, replacing Ezeokenwa and his team. However, APGA and Ezeokenwa contested this move, arguing that Njoku’s claims were without legal merit.
The Supreme Court’s verdict resolves the dispute, reinstating Ezeokenwa and his executive team as the rightful leaders of APGA. The court also ordered INEC to restore their names as the party’s national executive officers, bringing much-needed stability to the party’s leadership.
