Recall that Tinubu’s victory is being contested because to alleged INEC irregularities by Peter Obi who finished third in the 2023 presidential election.
According to Nigeria news agency the five-member PEPC presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani opted to postpone making a decision about the request for live streaming of court proceedings filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP).READ MORE…
On Monday May 22 Tsammani stated that the decision regarding the motion for the television broadcast would be made.
In order to protect the public’s right to access information the attorney defending Obi and the LP Awa Kalu (SAN) fervently asked the court to approve the application.
However Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN) speaking on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Wole Olanipekun (SAN) Bola Tinubu Kashim Shettima and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) speaking on behalf of the APC presented their counter affidavits and begged the court to deny the application.READ MORE…
They said that the application lacked merit and would divert the court’s attention.
The pre-hearing was further postponed by the court to Saturday May 20 2023 so that Muslims might attend their prayers.
