Why is anyone blaming Umar Damagum now for not fulfilling their requests?

The criticisms emerged after Wike, despite being a PDP member, accepted a position as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the APC-led administration under Bola Tinubu and publicly endorsed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Many within the PDP have been calling for consequences against Wike due to his actions. However, during an interview with Arise TV, Abdullahi Ibrahim argued that it is unfair to place all the responsibility on Damagum when other senior party members, including Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo, were present at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting attended by Wike and took no action against him.

Ibrahim emphasized that as long as Wike has not officially renounced his membership in the PDP, he should still be considered a member of the party. He noted, “Wike has not at any time said he is no longer a member of the PDP, and to that extent, we consider him as such. Continue Reading>>>

” He pointed out that during the NEC meeting, which included the participation of key stakeholders like Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo, no one challenged Wike’s presence. He questioned why the blame is now being directed at Damagum, suggesting that it would be wrong to portray the party as being driven by desperation.
