Wike Enforces Penalties for Non-Payment of Certificate of Occupancy Fees

During a routine inspection of major infrastructure projects in the FCT, Wike highlighted the importance of adhering to financial obligations. Among the inspected projects were the 15-kilometer left-hand service carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road 1 to Wasa Junction, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal in Dakibiyu, Jabi District, and the 5-kilometer Saburi Road.

Addressing concerns about the recent publication of names of plot owners with unpaid C-of-O fees, Wike clarified that the list was based on official records. He assured that individuals with proof of payment would be acknowledged and treated accordingly.

Wike emphasized the critical need for compliance, stating that many land allocations had been pending for over a decade. He stressed the role of these payments in generating revenue essential for FCT’s development.

When asked about distractions potentially affecting his developmental agenda in 2025, Wike dismissed such concerns, reiterating his unwavering focus on delivering results. He acknowledged that governance naturally comes with grievances but maintained that his priority remains achieving the best outcomes for the majority of residents, not catering to a select few.

“These distractions will not deter us,” Wike stated. “We are resolute in fulfilling our responsibilities and advancing the Federal Capital Territory for the benefit of most residents.”
