Chelsea were in champions league action against FC Porto at Seville Staduim in Spain.

The blues were looking to book a semifinal berth in the champions league for the first time since 2014 having led Porto 2-0 in the first leg. Porto knew it would be difficult to overturn a two goal lead against the blues and so they entered the game with limited expectations.

The first half of the game saw Porto largely cling on to possession of the ball as they dominated proceedings. The Portuguese side were however unable to find their way past the blues defence who stood tall as the first half ended goalless.

The second half of the match saw the blues firmly hold on to their two goal lead in the game despite being pressured by Porto who were definitely the better side on the evening, but lacked finishing touches to put the ball into the back of the net.

The Portuguese side would however score a consolation goal late on as Mehdi Taremi hit a glorious bicycle kick past Edouard Mendy. That goal would however prove to be too little too late though as the Chelsea eventually qualified for the semifinals on a 2-1 aggregate.

Elsewhere, Paris Saint German also qualified to the semifinals on away goal rules despite losing to Bayern Munich 1-0 in Paris.

The home team missed a host of chances to kill the game and they were left to sweat when Bayern pulled a goal through Chupo Moting. PSG however held on to their away goal advantage and sealed a second consecutive semifinal berth as they looked to make up for last season’s heartbreak.

Chelsea would face the winner of the quarter-final tie between Liverpool and Real Madrid in the semifinals with Real Madrid their most likely opponents at the moment having led 3-1 in the first leg.

Paris Saint German will also face the team that qualifies from the Manchester city vs Borussia Dortmund tie. Manchester city are currently leading that tie on a 2-1 aggregate.
