The Gunners will be without Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, both sidelined with knee injuries, while four other defenders missed training on Tuesday, further complicating Arteta’s plans.

Gabriel, Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Riccardo Calafiori were all absent, leaving uncertainty around Arsenal’s defensive lineup.

In addition, Thomas Partey, who can play as a right-back, was also missing, meaning Arteta has limited experienced defenders available.

With a depleted defense, Arteta will have to rely on the remaining fit options. Jakub Kiwior and William Saliba are both available, which allows them to maintain their partnership at center-back.

Selecting the full-backs, however, poses a significant challenge.

Kieran Tierney, who has not played for Arsenal since August 2023, could make his return, having last appeared as a substitute in the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Alternatively, Myles Lewis-Skelly, who could make his Champions League debut, might be called upon. Though originally a midfielder, Lewis-Skelly has previously played as a left-back for the senior team.

Another option is 18-year-old center-back Ayden Heaven, who could be asked to step in after making his senior debut earlier this season in the Carabao Cup.
