Barcelona Star Offered To Aston Villa Following Recent Champions League Heroics

Barcelona defender Eric Garcia, who scored a vital header earlier this week in a thrilling Champions League clash against Benfica, has reportedly been offered to Aston Villa as part of Barcelona’s transfer strategy....CONTINUE READING>>>

The Catalan giants are keen on securing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United and are exploring options to balance their squad and finances. With limited time left to finalize the deal, Barcelona appears willing to part with Garcia.

Clubs Eyeing Eric Garcia

Aston Villa isn’t the only club interested in the 22-year-old defender. Premier League teams Brighton, West Ham, Wolves, and Newcastle have reportedly made offers for Garcia, according to TBR Football.

In addition to these English clubs, La Liga’s Girona, where Garcia spent the 2023/24 season on loan, and Serie A side Como—managed by former Barcelona legend Cesc Fabregas—have expressed interest in the Spanish international.

Garcia’s Current Role at Barcelona

Despite not being a regular starter for Barcelona, Garcia has proven to be a reliable option when called upon. This season, he has played 661 minutes across 17 appearances in all competitions. However, the competition in Barcelona’s central defense is fierce:

  • Ronald Araujo recently signed a long-term contract.
  • Pau Cubarsi, an 18-year-old talent, is breaking into the first team.
  • Andreas Christensen is working on regaining fitness.
  • Inigo Martinez is recovering from injury.

With this defensive depth, Garcia’s departure could make sense for Barcelona, especially if it aids in their pursuit of Marcus Rashford.

Aston Villa, who were previously interested in Sevilla’s Loic Bade but saw the deal collapse, might see Garcia as a valuable addition to their squad.
