D’Tigers were impressive in the first quarter which they won 24-16, things went wrong in the second quarter which saw a turnaround in the game as Cape Verde ensured that D’Tigers had just nine points to their 23, this saw them take a six-point lead to the halftime break.

Cape Verde took the third quarter 21-18 extending their lead to nine, they continued their dominance in the fourth quarter as they won it 18-11 to win the game by 18 points.

D’Tigers suffered an 82-89 loss to Libya in their opening game of the qualification series. They also lost their second group game 72-62 against Uganda.
