The match began with a surprise as Bryan Mbeumo gave Brentford a 13th-minute lead, notching his 11th league goal of the season.
However, Arsenal quickly found their rhythm. Gabriel Jesus equalized in the 28th minute, capitalising on a rebound after Brentford’s goalkeeper Mark Flekken failed to hold Thomas Partey’s effort.
Arsenal took full control early in the second half. Mikel Merino’s finish from a well-executed set piece put them ahead, and moments later, Gabriel Martinelli added a third with a stunning strike.
The quickfire goals sealed a vital win for the visitors.
The result was not only a successful start to the year but also showed Arsenal’s resilience, winning from behind in an away game for the first time since February 2023.
Jesus continued his red-hot form, scoring six goals in his last four appearances.
Brentford, meanwhile, extended their winless streak to four league matches, remaining 12th in the table.
Arsenal’s victory also reinforced their dominance in London derbies this season, where they have claimed more points than any other team.
