Premier League reveals September 2024 nominees for Player and Manager of the Month awards

The nominees for the Premier League Player and Manager of the Month awards for September 2024 have been revealed.

Several managers have also had a successful few weeks, with multiple unbeaten coaches making the list of nominees.

After a challenging start at Newcastle United, Harvey Barnes has made a significant comeback in the early stages of the 2024/25 season. In September, he scored three goals, finding the back of the net against Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Fulham.

Luis Diaz is among the top candidates for the monthly award. The Colombian winger has recently been on a scoring spree, netting four goals, including two in the first half of a dominant 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ryan Gravenberch, another contender from Liverpool, has secured a regular starting role under manager Arne Slot. The Dutch midfielder led the league with a total of 231 passes and won back possession 29 times throughout September.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes has been pivotal in his team’s unbeaten run during September. His effectiveness during set pieces was key in helping secure a victory against Tottenham and a draw with Manchester City.

Raul Jimenez also made a notable impact for Fulham, scoring three goals and keeping his team unbeaten throughout the month. With this achievement, he became the second Mexican player to reach 50 Premier League goals.

Everton’s hopes of gaining points in September were largely dependent on Dwight McNeil. The former Burnley winger stepped up in crucial moments, scoring twice to help secure a vital 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Chelsea also finished the month unbeaten, with Cole Palmer serving as the team’s main creative player. The England international scored four goals in September, including an impressive performance against Brighton & Hove Albion and a goal against West Ham United, as well as assisting in the match against Crystal Palace.

Completing the nominees list is Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, who scored his first four league goals of the season and provided two assists, aiding Unai Emery’s team in achieving two wins and a draw.

No team earned more points in September than Chelsea, where Enzo Maresca is beginning to find his footing after a tough start at Stamford Bridge. While the fixture list wasn’t particularly challenging, the team showed improvement with victories over Bournemouth, West Ham, and Brighton, following an initial home draw against Crystal Palace.

Arne Slot’s time as Liverpool manager saw its first defeat against Nottingham Forest, but his team remains at the top of the Premier League following a largely successful month. This surprising loss followed an impressive 3-0 win over Manchester United, but Liverpool bounced back well with convincing victories against Bournemouth and Wolves afterward.

Marco Silva’s Fulham team ended the unbeaten runs of both Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, with Emile Smith Rowe and Raul Jimenez excelling in attack. Fulham is currently in sixth place in the league and has yet to lose since the season opener.

Rounding out the shortlist is Unai Emery, whose Aston Villa side is thriving. They recently celebrated a victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, collecting seven points from three matches, thanks to some dramatic late goals.
