The German international had earlier announced that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of this current season (2023/24). According to him, he needs to take a break from the game because he needs to rest and have time to himself.

There have been a lot of names going around the media as to who will be the perfect replacement for Jurgen Klopp. The board at Liverpool led by the FSG ( Fenway Sports Group) will ensure that they get someone who can fill in that shoe perfectly

We have decided to highlight one name that everyone is not currently looking at which is, Thomas Tuchel. The former Chelsea manager also announced that he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season following a series of bad results at the club.

Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp have an intertwined history in German football, particularly in the Bundesliga. Tuchel succeeded Klopp as the manager of Borussia Dortmund in 2015 after Klopp’s successful tenure, during which he won two Bundesliga titles and reached the UEFA Champions League final.

Tuchel’s time at Dortmund saw him continue the club’s high-tempo, pressing style of play, although he introduced some tactical variations. Despite not winning major trophies, Tuchel’s Dortmund played attractive football and reached the DFB-Pokal final and the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals in the 2015-2016 season.

Their professional relationship has been characterized by mutual respect, with both coaches acknowledging each other’s tactical acumen and contributions to German football.

The history between Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp

Mainz 05:

Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp both have significant histories at the Bundesliga side, Mainz 05. Klopp was the manager of Mainz from February 2001 to May 2008. He took charge when the club was in the second division and led them to promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history.

They enjoyed a lot of success under Klopp’s management, Mainz played an attractive style of football and gained a reputation for their high-pressing and energetic play.

However, Tuchel succeeded Klopp as the manager of Mainz 05 in August 2009 and remained in charge until May 2014. Tuchel continued the success of Mainz, guiding them to their highest-ever finish in the Bundesliga and qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

Both managers left lasting legacies at Mainz, contributing to the club’s growth and success in German football.

Borussia Dortmund:

Tuchel succeeded Klopp as the manager of Borussia Dortmund in 2015 after Klopp’s successful tenure, during which he won two Bundesliga titles and reached the UEFA Champions League final.

Tuchel’s time at Dortmund saw him continue the club’s high-tempo, pressing style of play, although he introduced some tactical variations. Despite not winning major trophies, Tuchel’s Dortmund played attractive football and reached the DFB-Pokal final and the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals in the 2015-2016 season.

If history is anything to go by then Tuchel might be the next manager at the dugout at Anfield when the 2024/25 football season kicks off.
