In a video shared by the Nigerian media team, the Super Eagles were shown stuck at the airport after departing Nigeria earlier that day. Initially, they planned to fly directly into Tripoli and continue by road to Benghazi, the match’s location.

To avoid the long road journey, they opted for a chartered flight with a brief stop in Kano before heading straight to Benghazi. However, their plans took a turn.Just an hour before they were expected to land, the plane was suddenly diverted to another city, two hours away from their intended destination of Benghazi.

The Super Eagles’ media team explained, “Around an hour before landing, the Nigerian aircraft headed for Benghazi was redirected to another city, which is over two hours’ drive from the original destination.”As they waited at the airport, frustrations mounted.

Nigerian footballer Victor Boniface expressed his dissatisfaction on social media, saying on X (formerly Twitter), “Been at the airport for almost 13 hours—no food, no Wi-Fi, no place to sleep.
