Wike: My Loyalty Prevents Me from Donating My Kidney or Liver to Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has emphasized his commitment to doing what is right, regardless of the challenges, but firmly stated that loyalty will not push him to extreme measures like donating his kidney or liver.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving Service to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, Fubara dismissed the notion of loyalty being equated with sacrificing vital organs, saying, “If that is the only reason to be loyal, I will not be. But I will always stand for what is right, even if I stand alone.”

Fubara also responded to accusations from Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), that he was behind an alleged attempt to bomb a civic reception held in Wike’s honor by the Rivers Ijaw People’s Council. The governor denied these claims and stated that he has never ordered any security agency to act improperly.

He took the opportunity to outline his administration’s achievements, mocking Wike for criticizing his work and boasting that his government has accomplished more in one year than Wike’s did in eight years. Fubara highlighted projects like the N200 billion Port Harcourt Ring Road and the N225.1 billion Trans-Kalabari Road, which he said were funded without borrowing, unlike previous administrations.

In a pointed remark, Fubara said his administration is building a psychiatric wing in a General Hospital because “those attacking him will need it soon.” He added that those making noise for recognition have lost relevance, further implying that Wike’s criticisms stem from frustration.

Fubara concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and stressed the importance of peaceful elections in Rivers State. He assured that his administration is focused on the people’s welfare and improving the state’s infrastructure, not personal business interests.
