CAN Instructs Lord's Chosen to Review Testimonies Before Public Presentation

The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has instructed the leadership of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries to review how testimonies are shared during their gatherings. Continue Reading>>>

This decision follows the widespread controversy over a recent testimony given by a church member. In the testimony, the individual claimed that an old man appeared to her in an exam hall and provided answers to questions, which she then shared with a fellow student from the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.

CAN Lagos Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, condemned the testimony, labeling it an “utter fabrication.” He announced that the Christian body would meet with the church leadership to address the issue of misleading testimonies.

In a statement to Saturday PUNCH, Adegbite confirmed that the meeting had taken place at the CAN secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja. He said the church was instructed to be more cautious and vet testimonies before allowing them to be shared publicly.

“We had the meeting last Friday, and representatives from the church were present. We told them to carefully review testimonies. It is only a madman who would think otherwise,” Adegbite said.

He added that all five bloc leaders of CAN and coordinators from the 57 local government areas in the state were present, with over 100 people in attendance. The consensus was that any testimony deemed unreasonable, misleading, or damaging to the image of Christ should be rejected outright. Continue Reading>>>

“We instructed the leaders to ensure that they ask members what they intend to share before handing them the microphone. If the testimony is inappropriate for public consumption, it should be disallowed. While we believe God still performs miracles, we must speak only the truth,” Adegbite concluded.
