Police Arrest Three Suspects in Connection with Beheading of Abia Couple

The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the brutal beheading of an elderly couple in Etiti-ulo, Bende Local Government Area. The victims, identified as 78-year-old Mr. Jacob Udo and 73-year-old Mrs. Comfort Udo, were found murdered in their home, with various belongings reported stolen. In a statement released on Friday by police spokesperson ASP Maureen Chinaka, it was noted that the suspects were apprehended following an investigation initiated after officers assessed the crime scene. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia.

The incident, which sparked widespread outrage, has led public figures such as Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu to demand a thorough investigation.

According to Chinaka, the couple’s bodies were discovered on October 2, 2024, in a pool of blood at their residence in Etiti-ulo. Their remains have since been transferred to the mortuary for autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing.Continue Reading>>>
