Zamfara Celebrates One Year Free of Polio Virus

She made this announcement during a one-day town hall meeting regarding the upcoming Integrated Measles Vaccination Campaign held in Gusau, attributing this achievement to the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved in routine immunization.

Anka expressed her gratitude to organizations such as WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, and other NGOs for their assistance, emphasizing that their support was crucial to reaching this milestone.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Malam Bashir Surajo Gusau, she stated that the state government is committed to eliminating polio and reducing measles cases by 60 percent by the end of 2025.

Anka called on stakeholders to collaborate in achieving Governor Dauda Lawal’s Health Sector Agenda.

Dr. Raji, the State Coordinator for the World Health Organization (WHO), pledged continued support from the WHO and urged the state to ensure that all targeted populations are reached, particularly those in underserved areas who are the most vulnerable.
