House of Representatives Member Yusuf Gagdi and His Wife Celebrate Their First Wedding Anniversary

In a post on his verified Twitter account on Sunday, Gagdi shared a heartfelt message: “HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US: Rt. Hon. YUSUF GAGDI, Ph.D, OON AND LAYLAH YUSUF GAGDI (Mrs). It has been a wonderful year filled with great experiences having you as my partner.

Our beautiful journey began on Monday, August 8, 2023, around 5 PM, when we visited L and N Kitchen with my brother and friend, Muhammad Sani Abdulkadir (Sani Kuwait), to enjoy tuwon shinkafa and miyan zogale. It was only my second visit to the kitchen.”

He continued, reminiscing about their first encounter: “As we were waiting for our food, I noticed you walking by with your younger sisters, Aisha and Amina (Ammi). Your calm demeanor and graceful walk were simply captivating.”

Gagdi recalled the moment he approached her: “When Sani informed me that you owned the kitchen, I confidently called you over, saying, ‘Hey, come here,’ and you graciously obliged. I then asked for your phone, and you handed it over without any hesitation.”

He concluded by expressing his admiration for her character: “Your kind nature and humble attitude, despite my somewhat arrogant approach, melted my heart.

It made me realize that the stereotypes some people, particularly in our northern community, hold about you being a ‘feminist’ (which you are not), stubborn, or uncontrollable might not be accurate after all.”
