Ifoh also commented on the recent loss of the party’s Edo governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata.When asked about the perceived betrayal by Obi and Otti in light of the caretaker committee’s formation, Ifoh clarified, “The committee is illegitimate.
We do not recognize it because it does not align with the Nigerian Constitution or electoral law, nor is it supported by our party’s constitution.” He described the committee as a coalition of party members who believe they should take control of the party, stressing that their actions lack any legal foundation and are thus invalid.
Regarding the future of Obi and Otti within the Labour Party, Ifoh expressed optimism. “They are key figures in our party, and we hold them in high regard. “We are not a party of the elite or a closed-off organization. We operate with an open-door policy, which is why leaders like Obi and Otti are significant to us. We have no intention of sidelining them or enforcing any sanctions.” This interview underscores the Labour Party’s commitment to unity and faith in its leadership, even amid current challenges, signaling a desire for open communication and collaboration within the party.
