20 SANS Line Up For Obi, APC May Hire 12
The Labour Party said it had engaged the services of at least 20 senior advocates of Nigeria to challenge the outcome of the February 25 presidential election on behalf of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to sources within the party, the lawyers drawn from different chambers were being furnished with materials that would be used as evidence in court.
The president-elect and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, was announced the winner of the keenly contested election last Wednesday.
Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the LP flag bearer, who got 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes respectively.
But Atiku and Obi rejected the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, with each claiming at separate press conferences that the election was fraught with violence and massive rigging.
The drama took a twist last Friday when the two major opposition candidates were reported to have approached the court to seek permission for the inspection of election materials used during the poll.

Consequently, Nigerians are yet to start accepting or spending the old notes.

Sultan, Afenifere To Nigerians: Accept Feb 25 Election Outcome
The Sultan of Sokoto ,Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III,yesterday made a case for the acceptance of the outcome of the February 25th presidential election by the generality of Nigerians.
“Leadership is from Allah Almighty given to whoever He wishes at any time He wishes and nobody can query Him or change what He did,”the chairman, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs said as more congratulatory messages poured in from home and abroad for President-elect Bola Tinubu.
Some of the latest congratulatory messages came from the governments of Ukraine,and Pakistan as well as the leader of the Pan Yoruba group, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti and the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).
Abubakar,speaking during the coronation and presenting of staff of office to the new Emir of Dutse,Jigawa State,Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi ,asked the audience to “please support your leaders; do not argue with them or be disobedient. You can’t fight God’s making; accept them as they were being made by God Almighty who gives power to whoever He wishes.”
Why Ekiti Returned Mission schools to owners – Oyebanji
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has said that the state government’s decision to return mission schools to their original owners was based on the need for positive rebirth in learning and character in the schools.
Oyebanji, who thanked the Methodist Church Nigeria in Ekiti State for its contributions to the development of the state especially in the education sector, urged the church “to continue to use her vast influence to promote peace, unity and cooperation among our people”.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro, spoke in Ado Ekiti during the inauguration of the Diocese of Ado-Ekiti and installation of Rt. Revd Jeremiah Shittu as bishop of the diocese. The event witnessed the presentation of Sir Olajide Borode as Lay President.
Oyebanji hailed Shittu’s elevation, as he advised churches never to allow bigots and divisive elements to have a place on the pulpit.
