“We Won’t Support Tinubu Without Question; He Needs Advisors Like Osinbajo and Fayemi – Bala Mohammed”

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State expressed disappointment, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not yet brought the development he achieved as Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007 to the national level. Despite his respect for Tinubu, Mohammed admitted that he initially expected the President would replicate the success he had in Lagos. He highlighted that Tinubu’s achievements there were partly due to his strong team, which included former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Minister Kayode Fayemi.

Mohammed questioned why these experienced figures aren’t part of Tinubu’s administration and urged the President to involve capable, knowledgeable individuals instead of surrounding himself with people who only offer blind praise.”The National Economic Council (NEC), chaired by the Vice President, is meant to be advisory, but as governors, our views often feel disregarded,” Mohammed said.

He clarified that his criticism isn’t meant as an insult, adding that he holds Tinubu in high regard for his mentorship across Nigeria. “I had high hopes he’d bring his ‘Lagos magic’ to the presidency, but it seems he’s either overwhelmed or resistant to guidance.”Speaking as an opposition figure, Mohammed said he has voiced his concerns, noting that Tinubu’s policies, especially around the economy, aren’t easing hardships.
