“Best Female Artist na beans?” Ayra Starr slams the Headies Awards over presentation

Ayra Starr has expressed her thoughts on how the Best Female Artist of the Year was presented at the Headies Awards 2023.

Singer and Performer Ayra Starr who was crowned the best female artist of the year at the Headies Awards 2023 has reacted to how the award was presented to her by the organisers.

The Best Female Artist of the Year 2023 category was not announced during the live event of the Headies Awards 2023 which was held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, but was rather confirmed after the event.

Ayra who was confirmed as the winner of the category took to her social media platform today, Monday, September 4, 2023, to express her lack of satisfaction to the way the award was presented.

Ayra stated that she would not celebrate such a win indicating that women have put so much efforts into their craft to be presented an award which is supposed to recognize their efforts off stage and not at the main event itself.

She shared, ‘I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage ! Best female artist na beans ? We work hard, every single one of us ! I’ve seen Tiwa record 4 hit songs in the same night , Tems breaths and lives for music , we didn’t deserve such nonchalance! Nigeria , you didn’t raise me to settle for less’
