Saturday PUNCH noticed on Friday that, “fresh coats of white and green paint were being applied to the concrete perimeter fence surrounding the president’s office, the official home, the Council Chamber, the press gallery, as well as other administrative offices.”

“Thursday saw the delivery of new furnishings to the green room next to the Council Chamber,” as seen by one of our correspondents.

“The management had put up barricades where there had once been freeways and upgraded the card readers as usual months before.”

Under the condition of anonymity, a senior State House source told Saturday PUNCH that, “the upkeep was one of the duties performed by the Presidential Transition Council, which was led by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.”

“The Federal Government established the 22-member Presidential Transition Council on February 14, 2023, in preparation for the transfer of power to the new administration.”

“The committee includes the permanent secretaries of the Office of the SGF, State House, Economic and Political Affairs, Cabinet Affairs, General Service Affairs, and National Security Advisor, among others.”

“The President-elect nominated 14 more people to the transition council in April.”

PUNCH reported that, “The changes and upgrades we are making are a part of larger maintenance projects,” the official declared.

“Buhari had previously alternated between his private quarters in the Asokoro neighborhood and the Defence House in Maitama.”

In August 2017, Buhari, “who had returned to work after a 103-day medical leave of absence abroad, conducted business from his official residence while his office was being renovated.”
