1. Lagos Cp reveals why Baba Ijesha is still under detention:

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos state commissioner of police, says Baba Ijesha would not be released from detention until the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) suspend its nationwide strike.

Odumosu spoke on Wednesday while reacting to a protest led by Yomi Fabiyi to demand for the release of the embattled actor, Olarenwaju James.

TheCable Lifestyle had reported how the 48-year-old actor was arrested by the police for allegedly molesting a minor.

2. Don’t leave security in Buhari’s hands, Ganduje tells Nigerians:

Abdullahi Ganduje has advised Nigerians not to leave the deterioration of the nation’s insecurity in the hands of President Muhammadu Buhari and governors.

“Security is everybody’s business and should not be left to the government alone,” said Mr Ganduje. He also urged Muslims to use the period to pray for peace of the country.

Mr Ganduje made the call while briefing journalists shortly after observing the Eid prayer at Kofar-Mata praying ground in the Kano metropolis.

3. Gunmen raze second Abia police station in 72 hours:

Unknown gunmen have razed another police station in Abia state this week, the Bendel divisional police headquarters.

The attackers were said to have invaded the station on Wednesday night, before opening fire on police officers on duty.

It was not immediately clear if there were any casualties in the incident or the extent of damage done.

TheCable contacted Geoffrey Ogbonna, spokesman of the police command for more Information but has not yet had any response.

4. Speaks On Boko Haram Terrorists Sharing Ramadan Gift In Yobe, Borno:

The Nigerian Army has denied reports that Boko Haram terrorists distributed Ramadan gifts and cash to residents of Yobe and Borno States respectively.

Reports have emerged that a faction of the Boko Haram terrorist group loyal to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) had distributed Ramadan welfare packages to some residents of Borno and Yobe States.

It is understood that the insurgents distributed cash and food items including rice, beans, millet, maize, sugar, spaghetti.
