Labour Party: Peter Obi support Atiku’s request for live broadcast of tribunal proceedings

After the court adjourned pre-hearing sessions in their petition contesting the election of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, counsel for the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Livy Uzuokwu (SAN), made this known to reporters on Wednesday.

According to Uzoukwu, it is essential that the hearings be broadcast live so that Nigerians can learn about the court’s operations firsthand and put their fears to rest.

He asserted that colonial overlords started live court broadcasts but abandoned them after Nigeria won independence.

He asserted that Obi and the Labour Party back Atiku and his party’s request, saying that the circumstances on the ground call for a live broadcast of court proceedings.

For instance, he said that the courtroom could not comfortably hold 200 people and that the 200 individuals could not appropriately represent Nigerians, adding that Nigerians would be better informed if the proceedings were televised live. Continue Reading>>>

The senior attorney stated, “Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Mr. Obi, will be fully in support during the hearing of the motion on notice by Atiku and PDP.

Further pre-hearing proceedings in the petition filed by LP and Obi have been moved by the tribunal to May 17.
