Peter Obi visits Muslims in Anambra with luggage of rice, mushy drinks, others

Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’ s presidential candidate in the February 25 general elections, claimed that politicians are using politics to cause division amongst Nigerians.

He acknowledged that Nigerians are united, but when politics enters the picture, some unscrupulous politicians who seek to profit from where they have not sowed always create division by attempting to split citizens along tribal and religious lines.

The former governor of Anambra State provided bags of rice, cartons of noodles, and soft drink packs to the Muslim community and prayed that Allah would accept their fasts and sacrifices and bless them with a good life.

He said, ” I am present here today to partake in the festivities of this year’ s event. I am a Nigerian who ardently believes in the unity of our country, regardless of ethnicity or religion. Discrimination based on religion has never been my stance, nor will it ever be.

” The sole cause of discord among us is politics, which unfortunately brings about divisive campaigns during election season. Nonetheless, this should not be the case. I currently employ a northerner from Kano who manages one of my enterprises, which is prospering.

” All of you are my siblings, and I am your kin. This day is not reserved for politics, but rather for jubilation. “

” I didn’t come during politics because people would have thought it was because I was running for President. That’ s why I came after the election. “

” I have supported the Muslim community in Anambra like no one else has. I personally rebuilt this mosque after it was demolished and I assure you that you are welcome to live and conduct business here without any hindrance. “

” I am a resident of Onitsha and you can always contact me if you need me. I am particularly passionate about healthcare and education, so don’ t hesitate to call on me for assistance in those areas. “

The Chief Imam of Onitsha Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdulraman Imam, praised Obi for his consistent efforts in visiting members of the Muslim community during their celebrations to express his congratulations.
