According to a news that was published by The Nation Newspaper online this morning, it was reported that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is already playing his last car in the closing chapter of the high-stake power-play that has embroiled Nigeria in the past six months.

It was reported that Godwin Emefiele, who disobeyed the Supreme Court’s judgment, that the old N500 and N1000 notes should remain legal tender until December 31, is determined to influence the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in Lagos State, against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Some sources, who spoke to The Nation correspondent, under the condition of anonymity said last night, the apex bank released N500 million in new bank notes to shore up the campaign of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State…..Continue Reading

It is said that Lagos State, which is Nigeria’s economic nerve centre, is stronghold of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and as a result of that, the Governor wants to make sure Tinubu loses the state in this election.

The Nation correspondent learnt that, the N500 million windfall, was mobilised through high-level CBN agents in Lagos State and it was described as “Oga’s own contribution to the takeover-Lagos-from- Tinubu’s-influence, now that he has become the president-elect and will be relocating to Abuja.”

The source said, “Last night, Emefiele gave Labour Party N500m new notes to help Rhodes-Vivour win in Saturday’s election. The cash bonanza is intended to give undue advantage to Rhodes-Vivour, over the two other major contestants, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC and Mr. Olajide Adediran of the PDP, whose campaign and mobilisation have been seriously affected by the cash squeeze caused by Emefiele’s Naira redesign policy.”

Godwin Emefiele, whose controversial policy is widely believed to have specifically targeted Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of the presidential election, is highly unfavoured to continue in office after President Muhammadu Buhari bows out on May 29.
