Competence for Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker Position - Hon. Danladi Jatau Asserts Experience

In a recent interview, Tuesday, on the popular radio program ‘Matters Arising’ on Option Radio, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, Hon. Danladi Jatau, the member representing Kokona West constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, expressed his confidence and suitability for the position of the Speaker as the 7th assembly prepares to commence. Having secured re-election for a third term in the recent elections, Hon. Jatau emphasized his extensive experience in public service, which he believes gives him the edge over other aspirants.

He mentioned his past roles as a councillor, a member of the 4th assembly, and subsequently the 6th assembly. He expressed gratitude for being elected as a member of the forthcoming 7th assembly, attributing it to the grace of God.

“I, was a councillor, an elected member of the 4th assembly, then later 6th Assembly and now a member of the 7th Assembly, apart from holding other political offices previously”

While acknowledging that political power ultimately comes from God, Hon. Jatau firmly stated that he is highly experienced and qualified to assume the position of the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. Should he be given the opportunity, he vowed to give his best, relying on divine grace.

“I, know power comes from God, but as it stands at the moment, I am more than experienced and qualified to be the speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and if given the opportunity, I will give my best by God’s grace” he said.

Daily Sun reports that the political zoning arrangements in Nasarawa State indicate that since the current governor hails from Nasarawa North and the deputy governor from Nasarawa South, the position of the Speaker is expected to be filled by someone from Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone. Presently, the incumbent Speaker, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who is also seeking a third term, represents Nasarawa Western Zone.

Hon. Jatau finds himself in a race against the current Speaker and the majority leader of the house, Daniel Ogazi, both from Kokona East, within the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone.

As the 7th assembly approaches, the contest for the position of the Speaker at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly promises to be an intriguing and closely watched affair, with Hon.
