Soludo’s Prediction Has Come To Pass – Umahi

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, on Monday, said the outcome of the February 25 presidential election has vindicated Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, who had predicted that the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, would not win.

The Ebonyi governor spoke at the Ebonyi International Airport, Onueke, in the Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, while addressing stakeholders and people of Ezza clan.

Umahi said, “The All Progressives Congress is not angry or does not condemn Obi’s feat as the South-East has made a strong statement with it.

One, however, digs with two-arrowed woods so that when one fails to stick on the target, the other wood will stick to it.”

According to Umahi, who is Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, it is always important for any tribe to reserve a slot for negotiation.

Olanipekun, 49 Others To Defend Tinubu’s Mandate

Legal icon Wole Olanipekun and 49 other lawyers have offered to defend the victory of President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Election Tribunal.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and one-time President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is leading the team of legal giants.

The lawyers are waiting to be served with the petitions of the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi.

Both opposition candidates have registered their displeasure with the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as winner of the February 25 poll.

Tinubu got 8, 794,726 votes to beat Atiku and Obi to the second and third positions with 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 scores respectively.

Discordant Tunes In Oyo LP Over Makinde’s Adoption

The Obidient Movement in Oyo State and some Labour Party candidates contesting for the state House of Assembly, on Monday, distanced themselves from the endorsement of Governor Seyi Makinde as their consesus candidate for Saturday’s governorship election.

This was made known in a communique read by one of the House of Assembly candidates, Ayodeji Babalola from Ibadan South-East Constituency II.

Babalola spoke to journalists after a meeting held at Obi/Datti Campaign Office in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

The press statement was jointly signed by Babalola; Kayode Adejumo-Bello, Ibadan North Constituency II; Temidayo Taiwo, Ibadan South-West Constituency II, Oluwatoyin Okunlola, Oluyole Constituency and Sumonu Musa, Ibadan North-East Constituency II.

The communique read by Babalola, said, “Our attention has been drawn to a news item making the rounds in both the traditional and social media on the declaration of support for the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressive Congress by some minority factions of the leadership of Labour Party in Oyo State towards the forthcoming gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections in the state, an action that was taken unilaterally and in pursuit of personal agenda and aggrandishment.

APC, PDP Clash Over Presidential Poll Results

The post-presidential election storm took a dramatic turn yesterday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) marched on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja to protest the alleged manipulation of the February 25 election.

But the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) described those at the protest as “jesters”

It noted that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who led the protest, had told the world last week that he would seek redress in court.

But Atiku said they had the right to protest even if the case was in court.

APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, said there was bound to be a winner and loser in an election.
