Suspected Fulani bandits have attacked Fungzai and Kubat Villages in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulting in the death of at least 40 people. READ MORE…

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to an insider from the Fungzai community, the attack occurred between midnight on Monday and 2 am on Tuesday, and mostly affected women and children who were running for safety.

An eyewitness reported that 30 corpses were counted in Fungzai, while another 10 corpse

were counted in Kubat, and several houses were burnt down, New Telegraph reports.

The eyewitness said, “The Attack started about 12 midnight when we were sleeping after so much tiredness from farms because you know this is a rainy season, I counted 30 corpses in Fungzai my village while in the neighbouring village Kubat I also counted 10 corpses while several others were injured and many houses burnt.” READ MORE…

In response to the attack, Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong issued a press statement, condemning the act and directing security forces to pursue the attackers and bring them to justice.

He also commiserated with the victims and their families and promised to bring succour to the affected while conducting a thorough investigation. READ MORE…

The Plateau Governor-elect, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, also expressed shock and condemned the attack in a separate statement, urging security agencies to collaborate to arrest the perpetrators and appealing for calm and unity among citizens.
