Earlier than the results of the second round of voting in the governor’s race in Adamawa State had been totally tallied, Ari introduced the results on Sunday.

“We don’t know where he is because the Commission wrote and called him following this particular occurrence. He never answered any of the calls or gave any of them a return call.

“We requested that he report to the Commission on Sunday but we did not see him, and on Monday we did not see him either. He hasn’t reported, therefore as of right now, we don’t know where he is. This was said in a Friday interview on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television.

Okoye responded that it is the Nigerian Police’s obligation when asked about the potential of Ari being listed as sought for failing to report to the Commission or return its calls.

“Well, that falls under the purview of the Nigerian police. They have the right and discretion to issue a wanted notice for him if they believe his presence is crucial to the inquiry and he is nowhere to be found, the man said.

President Muhammadu Buhari was informed of the situation by INEC after the REC was suspended. As the Inspector General of Police looks investigating the REC’s actions during the Supplementary election in Adamawa State, the President accepted Ari’s suspension on Thursday.

The Commission has started the prosecution of the contentious Adamawa REC, according to the INEC National Commissioner, following receipt of a report from the Inspector General of Police.

“We wrote the Inspector General of Police and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The Inspector General of Police responded to our request, and an inquiry has already been launched.

My understanding is that the commission will start the REC’s prosecution as soon as the Inspector General of Police has finished looking into the case against the REC and everyone else involved and has established a prima facie case against the REC. Continue Reading…
