Photos as NLC protests removal of fuel subsidies in Lagos

Organised labour including members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Trades Union Congress (TUC) took to the streets of Ikeja, Lagos, in protest of the Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidies.

They walked from the iconic Ikeja under-bridge, Opposite Computer Village, towards Alausa, the Lagos House of Assembly complex and its surroundings.

Last week, NLC issued a seven-day ultimatum demanding the reversal of what they described as “anti-poor” and “insensitive” policies.

But the Tinubu-led administration called their bluff.

Protesters were seen on Wednesday carrying placards and chanting slogans denouncing the subsidy removal and expressing their grievances against the rising cost of living.

Some of the placards read ‘Regular & Affordable Electricity! Key to Industrial Revival’, ‘Tinubu, listen to Nigerians, not IMF or World Bank’, ‘Workers say NO to increase in transport prices’.
