PHOTOS: St. Lawrence holds send-forth ceremony, inaugurates new prefects

St. Lawrence Greater Heights School, Ajasa-Command, Lagos, on Saturday 12 August 2023, held a graduation ceremony for her ‘O’ Level graduates who were on their way to higher institutions of learning.
In his welcome address, the Principal of the school, Pastor Timothy Jegede thanked God Almighty for seeing the students through their secondary education to the end.
According to him, many had the same dream but were not lucky to achieve it either as a result of death or abandonment.
“That you are fortunate to be honoured today, all is by the grace of God,” he said.
He thanked the graduands’ parents for their patience and sacrifices and prayed to God to bless their efforts. He charged the students to remain determined to attain more success in life.
The occasion was also used to inaugurate the 2023/2024 Session prefects who took the baton of leadership from the outgoing prefects at the event. The new leaders had been earlier appointed by the school authorities.

The new Prefects who were decorated at the colourful ceremony attended by parents, PTF Executive members, old students and guests from far and near are Chris Divine (Senior Prefect Boy), Sadeeq Halimat (Senior Prefect Girl), Isaac David (Health Prefect Boy), Ogungbemi Praise (Health Prefect Girl), Okudoro Samuel (Sports Prefect Boy), Abimbola Funmilayo (Sports Prefect Girl), Ojo Tobi (Maintenance Prefect), Ashiwel Divine (Laboratory Prefect Boy), Taiwo Abisoye (Laboratory Prefect Girl), Oraweme Elijah (Assembly Prefect, Christian) and Isawade Halimat (Assembly Prefect, Muslim).
Others are Bello AbdulHakeem (Library Prefect), Olagunju Kehinde (Asst. Library Prefect), Onyema Marvellous (Social Prefect Boy), Chineke Mercy (Social Prefect Girl), Sunday James David (Labour Prefect Boy), Oyewole Morenikeji (Labour Prefect Girl), Osezua Divine (Asst. Senior Prefect Boy), Akintunde Hephzibah (Asst. Senior Prefect Girl), Kolawole Eunice (Time Keeper) and Egbinola Ayanfe (Asst. Time Keeper).
The Proprietor (Mrs) Kehinde Lucia Adeosun, who scored the outgoing prefects low, welcomed and charged the new captains to prove worthy by living up to their responsibilities.
She asked them to be respectful and responsible, adding that they should be kind to their junior ones. She urged them to live by example.
Mrs Adeosun expressed displeasure at the adverse effects social media was having on the students as she lamented that the majority of the graduands could have done better than they did had they not been addicted to browsing.
She urged their parents to step in and take full charge of the students to make them achieve greatness in future.
“I have now handed them over to you. I have tried my best. Please, monitor them very well and instil discipline in them. They browse a lot. They need to be properly handled,” Adeosun advised the parents.
Her disciplinarian nature came to the fore when she declined to give the outgoing prefects the usual honour of decorating the incoming ones because some of them came to the event very late.
Excellence prizes were given to winners in different subject categories after which parting gifts were presented to all the graduating students.
