Paul Pogba’s Football Future in Doubt as Midfielder Receives Four-Year Ban for Doping Offense

The French international had initially tested positive test back on September 11, 2023, he was tested after Jventus’ first game of the 2023/24 season against Sassuolo, having a high number of testosterone found in his system.

Pogba’s lawyers had initially rejected a plea deal with the hope that he would get a lighter sentence after claiming that he had accidentally ingested the substance that caused the positive test.

The prosecution did not buy the plea of his lawyers hence that was why they issued him a four-year ban which could potentially mean the end of his football career.

What is next for Paul Pogba?

There are reports from the player’s camp that he will appeal the judgement at the Court of Arbitration for Sports. The four-year ban can be reduced if he can prove that his act was not intentional, was the result of contamination, or if his lawyers can provide “substantial assistance” to help investigators.

The ban starts from when Pogba first tested positive, so the France international is banned until August 2027. He will be 34 years old when the ban stops, raising doubts over whether his football career.
