Yari can only contest when there is no Akpabio, Uzor Kalu - Opeyemi Bamidele

There have been lots of controversies concerning the leadership of of the 10th senator as Senator Orji Uzpr Kalu, Godswill Akpabio, and Abdulaziz Yari are battling for the seat of the presiding officer. Continue Full Reading>>>

However, the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, backed the former governor of Akwa Ibom, Akpabio for the seat.

Reacting to the battle between these senators, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele CON a Nigerian lawyer, human right activist, politician and member of the 7th, 8th and 9th National Assembly, noted that there are rules guiding senate presidency.

He said a senator elected for the first time can only be a presiding officer when there is no returning senator in the House of Assembly. Continue Full Reading>>>

According him, senator-elect, Abdulaziz Yari can’t be senate president when there are returning senators like the former governor of Abia State, Uzor Kalu, Godswill Akpabio and others.

He, however said that Yari can only contest when there is no Akpabio and Uzor Kalu.
