Recent reports suggest that José Peseiro, the head coach for Nigeria during AFCON 2023, has purportedly accepted a coaching position with another African nation in preparation for AFCON 2025.

After expressing his desire to take a break from all coaching activities Super Eagles of Nigeria AFCON 2023 head coach Jose Peseiro has reportedly taken up the head coach role for another African country ahead of AFCON 2025.

According to OwngoalNigeria, Jose Peseiro, who no longer has a contract with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has reportedly agreed to coach Algeria at AFCON 2025 and for the World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

According to recent reports, OwngoaNigeria has revealed that Portuguese coach, Jose Peseiro has accepted an offer from the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) to become the new head coach of the Algerian national team. The FAF has been on the lookout for a new manager since parting ways with Djamel Belmadi. The media house Al-Hayat, for Awras, reported that Peseiro has already sent a written acceptance letter to the FAF president, Walid Sadi.

The announcement of his appointment is reportedly expected to be made known to the general public in the first week of March 2024 when his contract with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) will have completely expired.

The report also indicates that the FAF initially had Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic as their top choice for the job. However, he failed to meet the 48-hour deadline given to him to accept the offer. The coach’s lawyer later called the FAF president after the deadline expired to indicate that his client was still willing to take the job. Ultimately, it appears that Peseiro has been offered and accepted the position as the new head coach of the Algerian national team.
