Festus Okoye, INEC national commissioner, said that it is true that they promised that election results will be uploaded in real-time to INEC Result View portal (IReV) but there were challenges.

Festus Okoye disclosed this in an interview with Channels Television during the Politics Today program when he was responding to the question Seun Okinbaloye asked of whether INEC promised Nigerians too much or Nigerians demand from INEC too much by saying that Nigerians will be part of the electoral process by monitoring the result on the IReV portal…..Continue Reading

Festus Okoye responded that their electoral process is designed in a two-way approach in terms of result collation,

“First approach is that the moment election is over at the level of polling units, presiding officer enters the scores of political parties into a form called EC8A and gives a copy to the agent of political parties present and also to the security agents available. That result from EC8A together with physical BVAS is taken to the first level of collation which is the RA collation. The same form is snapped or scanned into IReV.”

He said at the level of result collation, if there are no challenges, disputes or issues on the transmitted result, there won’t be problem but if there is a challenge, they will use electronically transmitted results to solve the issues.

“There is no technology that does not have challenges, yes we promised that results will be uploaded in real time to our INEC Result Viewing Portal but there were challenges and we already explained to Nigerians that there were glitches and we didn’t anticipate that the challenges will occur.”
